I struggle to define myself.
Like what am I? A marketer? A connector?
An entrepreneur? A business woman?
I don’t know. I use them all interchangeably because my real title isn’t always politically correct.
What am I? Mrs. Get Sh*t Done. Plain and simple. **** the titles. I’m focused on the results. And you should too.
We just entered a brand new DECADE and this is still an issue for men and women, young and old. This obsession with titles and what they symbolize, how they validate them. (I have a whole other piece on this).
The untold truth? Your title doesn’t define your value in any given situation. The singular measure of success is in your ability to get sh*t done!
SO WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL HUNG UP ON TITLES?
They want to fit in/be perceived as important.
Titles give a false sense of security, it in many cases reinforces a hierarchy, regardless of output.
They want to feel important.
Individuals obsessed with titles in many cases develop a false concept of their role and function within an organization. They use the title to mask insecurities and weaknesses that take away from their ability to get shit done!
Their goals aren’t big enough.
When your goal is a “title” you miss out on a real opportunity to create an impact in the space you are serving.
An obsession with getting shit done, measuring success, performance and value in an organization on efforts and results, that stimulates a culture of productivity.
HOW DO YOU GET RID OF YOUR OBSESSIVE NEED TO ATTAIN A TITLE AND INSTEAD DEFINE YOUR VALUE BY YOUR ABILITY TO GET SH*T DONE?
Play the Long game. Sustainable success is earned through consistent results. Consistently getting shit done.
Let go of your ego. Ego is the enemy. It’ll drive you to focus energies on all the things that don’t matter. Work to grade yourself on your own efforts and improvements and not other people’s perception of you as a result of a title.
Understand that the best title is that of someone that gets results. Everything else is for the birds!
Get up! Go out! Get sh*t done!!!!
